Overview
From 7 June to 1 September 2013, Arezzo will host an extraordinary and prestigious culture event - its first International Arezzo Art Biennial. The Biennial will be dedicated to contemporary visual art and will be accompanied by ancillary events devoted to architecture, design, theatre, music and dance. The Biennial will include installations, forums, workshops and performances characterizing and investigating the language of artistic creativity in the new millennium. The first edition will be devoted exclusively to women artists representing six continents. The Biennial will take place every two years. The inaugural edition is entitled ICASTICA, meaning the art of representing reality by that which is effective, incisive, and suggestive as well as embodying propitious and concise action. The concept is both precise and flexible. It is best encapsulated in Glocalisation – a theory drawing on notions of global and local - developed by sociologist Roland Robertson and philosopher Zygmunt Bauman. Acting as venues for contemporary art, Arezzo’s museums, historic and ancient buildings, magnificent churches, and splendid piazzas will connect past and present, contemporary art, the Renaissance, and the Middle Ages through the works of 40 extraordinary women artists taking their inspiration from Piero della Francesca, Pietro Lorenzetti, Cimabue, and Vasari.
Arezzo attende, dal 7 giugno al 1 settembre 2013, una rassegna di cultura estetica prestigiosa e straordinaria: ICASTICA. 1st International Arezzo Biennial of Art - manifestazione dell'espressività visiva attuale incentrata sull'esposizione internazionale dell'arte contemporanea, affiancata dall'architettura e dal design, dal teatro, dalla musica, dalla danza. Tali momenti - installazioni, convegni, seminari, performance, spettacoli - caratterizzano e approfondiscono il linguaggio creativo del Duemila, nel mondo. La rassegna avrà cadenza biennale e proporrà, per la prima edizione, il tema del femminile quale esempio di impegno, di riscossa, di vitalità. ICASTICA significa "arte di rappresentare la realtà"; vuol dire azione efficace, incisiva, perciò suggestiva e, in questo senso, giusta perché sintetica. Il criterio del concetto è preciso ma elastico, cresciuto sul termine "glocal" - dal pensiero ricco del sociologo Roland Robertson e da quello liquido del filosofo Zygmunt Bauman, i quali, con la parola Glocalisation, amalgamano "globale" e "locale". Tutto il centro storico sarà interessato dall'arte, in vari spazi: musei e storici palazzi, più chiese uniche e alcune delle piazze più suggestive di Arezzo, in un percorso di relazione tra presente e passato, tra contemporaneo e rinascimental-medievale… attraverso il lavoro di 40 artiste di fronte a Piero della Francesca, Pietro Lorenzetti, Cimabue, Vasari.
